Note from Damian Tremlett – Managing Director

A huge amount of gratitude to all our clients who have helped us to provide continuation and hand-over where possible, and I thank everyone for their positive reactions and comments. It’s turned what could have been a very tough experience into a hopeful one.

Moving forward, the team has now split up and each engaged in new opportunities. I’m creating a new personal website www.solutiondesigner.co.uk from where I can be contacted, and engaged as a Solution Designer for complex software projects. I look forward to discussing your next ideas.

Yours Sincerely
Damian Tremlett | Managing Director – Aarkid in liquidation –

Notice of closure

We’re sad to see Aarkid go, but have put a lot of effort into ensuring where possible that our clients have options for continuation.
We have worked with some fantastic clients over the years and thank everyone for your time, care and support.
Many of the Aarkid team are now offering consultancy services, and the managing director,Damian Tremlett will be happy to continue to provide advice and contact details. You should contact Damian through a new site: Solution Designer

Our 3D-Standards application is being taken on (as isolated versions) by several of the manufacturers who used this tool. Unfortunately this does mean that any old accounts, along with any saved designs will cease to exist. Serious attempts were made to save the application as a single “going concern”, but failed to come to fruition. We hope you will sign up again through these manufacturer version interfaces wish everyone the best going forward.

3 new manufacturers join our virtual showroom solution 3D-Standards

Skywalk GMBH (DE) Germany, Testrite (USA), and Protean (UK), are all using Aarkid’s ground-breaking 3D-Standards virtual showroom application. 3D-Standards allows sales reps, distributors and customers to easily visualise trade show stands, displays and exhibit layouts in 3D, then upload their own images onto the graphic panels. The output is to PDF which includes a 3D render and an itemised parts list.

The success of the application as a customer engagement and sales tool has built up a huge interest in 3D-Standards from within the exhibition and display supplies industries. We expect to see this continue to increase in 2013 as we continue to add new sophisticated features to the application.

Stryker Operating Room Configurator on iPad

We’ve recently completed a multi-platform configurator with full synchronisation for Stryker. The 3D configurator for operating room lights and service arms is designed from the ground-up for use with touch screen devices. Going beyond standard 3D product configuration, the tool also then allows the user to position the highly configured equipment within a virtual OR.

Aarkid’s ground breaking solution then allows the consultant to output full part lists and publish the virtual room to a live 3D presentation on-line. This system helps to encourage collaboration and fast decision making between the various stakeholders in the hospital.

Hush Puppy Shoe 3D presentation

This project was completed in conjunction with the Media Agency dealing with Hush Puppy shoes.
The challenge was to see how realistic we could get the real-time 3D rendering. Once again, the hotspot texts are set from an external file. This interface was designed to blend seamlessly with the proposed website.

Golf Bag 3D Product Configurator

An unusual project here, this configurable golf bag allows users to upload logos and select colours and text . The project allowed our client (the manufacturer) to set the available colours and text for the hotspots from external files.

iPad 3D app

Aarkid have been selected to develop several 3D configurators for mobile devices, including iPad. Building on existing proprietary technology, Aarkid are swapping out their Java 3D renderer for a GL renderer to get their product configurators working on mobile devices.
The demands for mobile functionality have led to significant changes in the Aarkid application architecture, which in turn has allowed Aarkid to make some very useful updates. One of these is the opening up the online “product editor” component which can be accessed by admin. Manufacturers now have a web based “product editor” interface to directly edit CAD data and product configuration rules. The edits made can be tested, and then published across to the live configurator without any input from Aarkid themselves.

As these advances roll out, and the first examples come on-line, we’ll post links from this news roll.

US Government Contract – US FWS – 3D Interactive

Aarkid completed an unusual contract the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
3D web project was designed to engage and educate stakeholders in the region of the Klamath river basin. Specifically, highlighting issues and effects on local industries and peoples due to proposed changes to the reservoir systems and water management along the river course.

Interactive 3D presentation

This set of interactive 3D maps allowed the USFWS to readily update and add information to the map interface.
Now the site has been up for several months, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.
Matt Baun, the Public Affairs Specialist at the US FWS was great to work with, and took a strong creative role in the development of the interactivity. We look forward to seeing this engage and educate those involved and anyone who has interest in this important region of the USA.
